Why passion isn't given.

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about passion. Not the loud, dramatic kind, but the quiet, persistent one that grows slowly. The kind you don’t find overnight, but through trying, failing, trying again - until you realize: this lights me up. That feeling when you come home tired, but still want to do that one thing? That’s passion.
For me, passion isn’t about reaching something specific, but about becoming someone specific - curious, driven, connected. It gives my day direction. I need to know why I’m getting up in the morning. And no, I don’t think passion is something you “have” or “find.” I believe you build it - through small sparks, hobbies, interests. Over time, it becomes part of who you are.
Lately, I’ve had a lot of conversations with friends who are just starting out or have been in their jobs for years but aren’t feeling connected to what they do.
Working 40+ hours in a job that doesn’t inspire you is tough. You come home exhausted, numb yourself with digital content or other distractions, go to bed and in between, there’s nothing that really feels like you. I know that feeling. So if you haven’t found your passion yet - or want to reinvent yourself - follow what draws you in. Let yourself explore.
Things that help me reconnect with my passion:
Walks without distractions
Talking to passionate people (!!!)
Doing things just for fun
Less screen time (!!!)
Petting a cat (!!!!!)
Asking: What would I do even if no one ever saw it?
Even a quiet passion gives you a reason to keep going. Jup, that’s hard work, but it’s worth it. And that’s powerful.

Best,
Maria
